Wright earned 45 caps for the England national team, representing his country in two World Cups, including as a key player during the 1990 tournament where England reached the semi-finals. Renowned for his leadership and defensive skills, Wright also captained Liverpool and later transitioned into management and media work after retiring from professional football.
