Before the start of the game, Pelé promised County Councilor Derivaldo Mendoça that he would give his jersey to him. The “King” made his promise good while he was preparing to play in goal. He cried: “There goes your Jersey, Mr. Councillor. Thy will is done” This jersey was then inherited by Councilor Mendoça's son who the vendor purchased it from.
